My husband and I saw this recently in Paris at the Opera Bastille, where it was performed by Tatiana Lisnic (Adina) and Charles Castronovo (Nemorino) along with an impressive, equally talented chorus. While not as grand and traditional as the Opera Garnier, the Opera Bastille has great acoustics and is very modern (for those who like that sort of aesthetic). We were blown away by the jolity and beauty of Donizetti’s score and were blown away by the phenomenal singing of the main singers, though the main stars Anna Netrebko and Giuseppe Filianoti has this performance off, we were delighted by how extraordinary these singers were.
“Una Furtiva Lagrima” is one of the most beautiful pieces in all of opera and the tenor was extremely talented and brought to this aria a fresh, yet traditional feel.
I look forward to our next trip to Paris, where we may hopefully be able to see another great performance!
