    Funeral order, with muskets reversed, is fairly hard work – they’re pretty heavy but beautifully balanced to sit on the shoulder. Not quite so easy under the armpit!

    You’ll note there are differences in drill in different regiments (who use different drill books as the basis of their movements, which is likely to have been the case in the 1640s too) – our funeral order is to have the musket barrel down and butt up, which is equally awkward.
