My American Duchess Shoes!

When I returned from Somerset, I found this box waiting for me. I was THRILLED! I have been postponing buying historical shoes for a few years because I couldn’t find anything that was even near my budget. Thank goodness for American Duchess, a company specialising in historical footwear from Reno, Nevada, USA. I got these black Pompadour shoes which are great for people who want styles acceptable from late 17th century to early 18th century.

Just look at them – they’re beautiful, and sure to get heads turning when combined with jeans (if you must wear something modern). The Pompadour is available in white as well, but I figured that with all the mud and dirt that I usually have to walk upon here in the UK, black would be best 😉

They’re surprisingly comfortable in spite of the narrowness of the tips. I have wide feet, and these are still comfortable, so, woo hoo!!! I’m really looking forward to wearing these as soon as possible – maybe at this summer’s History Live! by English Heritage event at Kelmarsh Hall (unless the river breaks its banks again this year!).
